KVPAC Community Outreach Overview
|
KVPAC acts as a dynamic catalyst by partnering with non-profits, local businesses and corporations to initiate, provide and sustain a variety of community outreach programs/services to underserved populations including financially disadvantaged, At-risk youth, as well as mentally and physically disabled residents of all ages. All outreach programs represent one of our three mission focus areas.
Last year, 85% of outreach program participants are served free-of-charge.

HEALING
KVPAC recognizes the therapeutic value of the Arts to uplift, edify and encourage people in varied circumstances and has developed the "Healing Arts" programs. The Hands on the Arts program is a semester course taught at Houston Community College for students with mental and physical disabilities. Students enjoy cross-curriculum instruction and practical applications in visual arts, theatre arts and computer literacy training concluding with a gala performance and art exhibition for family and friends
.
UNIFYING
The program having the most impact in terms of the number people served is "ARTS for ALL!" KVPAC provides visual arts workshop, plays and other events free-of-charge to the public. Attendance at the March 2008 ARTS for ALL! Family Festival was more than 10,000.
