Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) established in 2001, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization dedicated to the education and accessibility of Theater, Visual Arts and Music programs to children, teens and adults. KVPAC provides experience in visual and performing arts to people of all ages through classes, performances and exhibition opportunities. The majority of these programs are geared toward young people between the ages of 3 and 18.
KVPAC provides community outreach off-site arts programs that focus on enriching education within West Houston area school systems, therapeutic artistic experiences serving patrons in area hospitals, and community arts events that transcend differences and fosters cultural awareness and encourages community cohesiveness.
During the academic school year, KVPAC programming focuses on providing high-quality visual and performing arts tuition-based classes for students during non-school hours. Classes are organized into theater, music, visual arts. These 6 to 12-week classes focus on developing specific skills and culminate with a gallery presentation or theatrical production.
In addition, KVPAC offers a fine arts academic preschool which utilizes visual arts, music, and theater as the basis for teaching academic concepts to children. The PreK at KVPAC was voted the Best of Katy Area in two categories for 2016, Best Day Care and Best Learning Center.
Advanced students may audition for our COMPANY theater program or participate in a portfolio review to enter the STUDIO visual arts program. Throughout the full academic year, COMPANY students work as an ensemble to produce one show per level per semester and participate in advanced acting workshops. STUDIO students rotate among drawing, painting and three-dimensional studio instruction to develop strong artistic skills.
During the summer, programming is modified into an 10-week program consisting of one and two-week half-day classes with a variety of visual and performing arts options. Classes end the week with either a theater production or a gallery presentation.
KVPAC is home to an Award Winning Community Theatre. ENCORE Players, which is an all-volunteer adult community theater organization taps into the acting, vocal, dance and stagecraft talents of adults within the Katy-area. Either on stage or behind the scenes, Encore Players is home to those who love the theater and want to be a part of bringing that magic to life. For Katy audience members who seek an evening at the theater, they can look to Encore Players as a source to enjoy the theater in their own backyard without the commute or cost involved with heading to one of downtown Houston’s theaters.
KVPAC’s main campus is conveniently located in the heart of Katy at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center complex. In 2013, KVPAC opened a second location at the West Oaks Mall through a partnership with We Open Art Houses (WOAH), a Houston-based non-profit arts organization.
